What to Expect Before and After Surgery
Before surgery, your pet will receive a comprehensive physical examination along with blood tests to confirm they are fit for anesthesia. In some cases, we may also suggest a pre-anesthetic ECG for added safety.
After the procedure, your pet will require a calm environment, restricted activity, and an e-collar to protect the incision site from licking or chewing. You’ll be provided with detailed aftercare instructions and any necessary medications to support comfort and healing.
Typical recovery timeline:
- 10–14 days of rest with e-collar use
- No bathing, swimming, or off-leash activity during recovery
- Stitches will either be removed or dissolve on their own, depending on the procedure
