Lakeside Pet Hospital Santa Rosa features a fully equipped in-house laboratory for immediate diagnostic testing. From routine blood work to urgent evaluations, our lab supports accurate diagnoses, pre-surgical screening, and effective treatment planning.
What We Test Right Here
- Complete blood count (CBC): checks red cells, white cells and platelets for anemia, infection and inflammation.
- Blood chemistry: shows how the kidneys and liver are working, along with blood sugar and other key values.
- Thyroid panel: screens for an underactive thyroid in dogs and an overactive thyroid in older cats.
- Urinalysis: helps find urinary infections, crystals, kidney problems and diabetes.
- Heartworm test: for dogs, as part of yearly prevention.
- FeLV and FIV tests: for cats, especially new kittens and adopted or outdoor cats.
- Cytology: we look at cells from lumps, ears or skin under the microscope.
Why It Matters for Your Pet
Because these tests run in our own lab, our veterinarians can often go over results with you sooner and start treatment without waiting on an outside lab. Before anesthesia for a dental cleaning or surgery, bloodwork helps us make sure your pet is ready. For senior pets, regular bloodwork can catch kidney, liver or thyroid changes early, when they’re easier to manage.
For specialized tests, we send samples to a trusted reference laboratory and contact you when the results are back.
