Oakmont families have a vet about 10 minutes down Highway 12. Lakeside Pet Hospital is a family-owned animal hospital on Montgomery Drive, caring for Santa Rosa’s dogs and cats since 1961. Many Oakmont pets are seniors, and we give older dogs and cats the unhurried, gentle care they need. You’ll see the same faces at every visit.
Getting here from Oakmont
Take Highway 12 (Sonoma Highway) west toward Santa Rosa. As you reach Santa Rosa’s east side, head south to Montgomery Drive. We’re in the Lakeside Shopping Center, with parking right outside the door, which helps if you’re lifting a stiff older dog or carrying a cat. If lifting your dog into the car is hard, call ahead and we’ll meet you at the door to help. Book online or call and our front desk will help.
What we see in Oakmont pets
- Senior pets. Arthritis, kidney and thyroid changes, dental disease, weight loss and vision or hearing changes are common as dogs and cats age. Regular senior bloodwork helps us catch changes early, often before you notice anything at home.
- Pain and mobility. A dog who hesitates on stairs or a cat who stops jumping up is often in pain, not just “getting old.” There’s a lot we can do, from medication and weight control to joint care. See our senior pet care.
- Trail and wildlife risks. Dogs who walk the trails toward Annadel and Sugarloaf can pick up foxtails, ticks and the occasional rattlesnake encounter. Our dog safety guide explains what to watch for.
- Fire readiness. Oakmont was evacuated during the 2020 Glass Fire. Keep a go-bag with medications, records and a carrier. Our wildfire smoke guide has a checklist.
Care Oakmont families use most
Oakmont families come to us most for senior pet care, dental cleanings, nutrition and weight advice, and pharmacy refills for long-term medications. When an older pet is unwell, our in-house lab lets us run bloodwork during the visit.
