Veterinarian Serving Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa

About five minutes from most of Rincon Valley, with trail-season care for dogs who hike Hood Mountain, Spring Lake and Annadel.

Lakeside Pet Hospital is east Santa Rosa’s neighborhood animal hospital, and for most Rincon Valley families we’re about a five-minute drive away. We’re on Montgomery Drive in the Lakeside Shopping Center, just south of Highway 12, so you don’t have to cross town or get on the freeway to see a vet. We’re family-owned, so you’ll see the same faces at every visit. Many Rincon Valley families have brought several generations of pets to us since we opened in 1961.

Getting here from Rincon Valley

From Calistoga Road, Mission Boulevard or Middle Rincon Road, head south across Highway 12 to Montgomery Drive. We’re in the Lakeside Shopping Center with parking right outside, which makes it easy to bring in a nervous cat in a carrier or a large dog on a leash. You can book online or call us and we’ll find a time that works.

What we see in Rincon Valley pets

Rincon Valley sits between some of Santa Rosa’s best open space, and that shapes the problems we see:

  • Trail injuries and foxtails. Dogs who hike Hood Mountain, Spring Lake and Annadel come in with foxtails in ears, noses and between the toes from late spring through fall. Sudden head-shaking or sneezing after a hike is worth a same-day visit. Every spring we pull foxtails out of dogs fresh off the Hood Mountain trails, so check ears and toes after every hike. Our dog safety myths vs. facts post covers foxtails, ticks and rattlesnakes.
  • Ticks. The oak woodland and grassy hillsides here carry ticks most of the year. We’ll help you choose a preventive that fits how your pet lives.
  • Wildfire smoke. The 2017 and 2020 fires came close to many Rincon Valley streets. Our wildfire smoke guide explains how to protect pets on smoky days and what to pack for an evacuation.
  • Wild mushrooms. After the first fall rains, mushrooms pop up under oaks in yards and along creeks. If your dog eats one, read what to do if your dog ate a mushroom and call us right away.

Care Rincon Valley families use most

Most Rincon Valley visits are wellness exams and vaccines, dental cleanings, and same-day sick visits for ear infections, limping and upset stomachs. Our in-house lab and digital X-ray mean many answers come during the same visit.
