Veterinarian Serving Petaluma

About 30 minutes up Highway 101, often for planned dental cleanings and surgery with one easy morning drop-off.

Petaluma has veterinarians of its own, so if you’re thinking about Lakeside Pet Hospital, here’s what to know. We’re about 30 minutes up Highway 101, on Santa Rosa’s east side. We’re a family-owned animal hospital that has cared for Sonoma County’s dogs and cats since 1961, with four veterinarians and our own lab and digital X-ray. Several of our Petaluma families found us through a friend’s referral and now make the drive for dental care. You’ll see the same faces at every visit.

Getting here from Petaluma

Take Highway 101 north to Highway 12 east (toward Sonoma). Follow Highway 12 toward Santa Rosa’s east side, then head south to Montgomery Drive. Plan on about 30 minutes, more at rush hour. We’re in the Lakeside Shopping Center with parking right outside. Tap Get Directions below, or book online.

Making the drive worthwhile

For planned care, one trip is usually all it takes:

  • Dental cleanings and surgery. You drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. We’ll call you when your pet is awake and explain the aftercare. See veterinary dentistry and surgical care.
  • Wellness and vaccines together. We can do the exam, vaccines, bloodwork and refills in one visit. See wellness services.
  • Senior check-ups. We give older pets unhurried exams with bloodwork run in our in-house lab.

What we see in Petaluma-area pets

  • Foxtails and ticks. Helen Putnam Regional Park, Shollenberger Park and the open hills around town dry out early, and foxtails and ticks follow. Our dog safety guide covers what to watch for.
  • River and marsh walks. The Petaluma River and its marshes are lovely for walks, but standing water and wildlife can carry leptospirosis. Ask us about the vaccine.
  • Seasonal itching. Grass pollen often causes paw licking and ear infections in spring. See why your pet won’t stop itching.
