What we see in Windsor pets
- Trail risks. Shiloh Ranch and Foothill Regional Parks are great for dog hikes and are also home to rattlesnakes, ticks and foxtails. Our dog safety myths vs. facts explains what to do after a snake bite.
- Russian River swims. In late summer, blue-green algae can grow along the Russian River and in still ponds. It’s toxic to dogs. Keep dogs out of water with posted warnings or scummy patches, and call us if your dog is sick after a swim.
- Wildfire smoke and evacuation. Windsor was evacuated during the 2019 Kincade Fire. Keep a pet go-bag ready with medications and records. Our wildfire smoke guide has a checklist.
- Summer heat. Windsor’s summer afternoons get hot. Heavy panting that won’t settle is a warning sign. See why is my dog panting so much.
Care Windsor families use most
